This is how varied the work in security is

As a multi-service provider, avitea Industrieservice offers its customers a wide range of services and industrial know-how. Security is one of many exciting fields of activity. Our employees ensure smooth and secure processes on the company premises and in the plants of our customers and protect them against damage caused by burglary, fire or other hazards.

The possible applications range from reception and gate service to alarm and locking system technology to property, plant and personal protection. Remote video surveillance, construction site security and event services are also part of the security portfolio at avitea Industrieservice. In addition, employees perform conceptual work with regard to the design and optimization of security plans.

What does the work in the area of security look like? What activities make the day-to-day work particularly exciting? And how can I develop as an employee within avitea Industrieservice? We talked to three employees from the property protection department about their daily work at our customer Hella.

Tim Ruschel has worked for the avitea Group for 10 years in various positions. He recently took a job as a security center employee at Hella. This was made possible by the "Path Building" project, which avitea set up. As part of the "Path Building" project, Tim Ruschel and other employees were able to complete a retraining course to become skilled workers in protection and security.

The jobs in the security center are diverse. After intensive training, the employees are responsible on site in day and night shifts for the fire and intrusion alarm technology, the acceptance of fault reports and their forwarding to the responsible technicians.

"Everyday life in the security center is incredibly varied. When you come to work in the morning or evening, you never know what the shift will bring. There can be anything from a fire alarm to first aid and simply recording a disturbance."

avitea Industrieservice not only offers extensive projects with retraining opportunities. Employees are also given numerous options for further training during their employment. With the help of regular training in the property-specific area, avitea Industrieservice ensures that all employees are up to date with the latest knowledge. These include first aid courses and fire safety training.

Employee security center

Georgios Mimilakis works as a shift supervisor in the security area for avitea Industrieservice. In addition to handling the normal day-to-day duties of checking burglar alarms and fire and extinguishing systems, he is also responsible for coordinating the employees on his shift.

"As a shift supervisor, communication is key," Mimilakis reported. "I really enjoy keeping my team together and finding effective ways to work together. I'm glad avitea Industrieservice has encouraged me in this area."

According to Mimilakis, good cooperation is an absolute prerequisite for both the employees on a shift and the various managerial positions. At avitea Industrieservice, particular importance is attached to smooth communication between the area, property and shift management.

"Working in security means more than sitting at the gate. There's a certain thrill to it. Something new and, above all, unexpected can happen every day. And then you have to be able to react quickly and take responsibility."

"As a property manager in the security area for the Hella plants in Lippstadt, I am responsible for coordinating employees and creating duty rosters," explained Christian Hetzel. <span style="font-family:var(--main-font),sans-serif">"At the same time, I am in constant exchange with the customer in order to improve security in the plants and optimize the security plans. That makes my job incredibly varied."</span>

After several years as an employee in the security center, Christian Hetzel recently moved up to the position of property manager. He now distributes the security-related tasks and coordinates the security concepts for the plants. He rates the opportunities for advancement at avitea Industrieservice as consistently positive.

"avitea Industrieservice is an employer that shows great interest in ideas brought in by employees. When developing new tasks, employees are supported and provided with the necessary materials."

Christian Hetzel was also able to benefit from this when he developed a manual on his own initiative for familiarizing new employees with the electronic guard book. The electronic guard book is used holistically in the security area at avitea Industrieservice and is a basic tool for every employee. Hetzel says his suggestions and ideas were welcomed by his superiors and encouraged in all respects.
